What the Work Is Like
You will not bounce between projects. Our engagements run for years, often for more than a decade, so you learn one product properly—its architecture, its history, and the failure it had years ago that everyone still designs around. That depth is what our clients are actually buying, and it is a more interesting career than the alternative.
You will work in the client's repositories, their pipeline and their standups, as part of their engineering process rather than at arm's length from it. And you will work alongside people who have been doing this for twenty years and are still here.
How We Treat the Day
For the first eighteen years of this company, we refused to run a night shift, on the view that no good engineer should have their life arranged around another continent's working hours.
It exists now because our own people asked for it. After COVID, a split day — four hours in the morning, four at night — turned out to suit many households better than a fixed shift. So we run it, by choice, and it is better for the clients too. Nobody was told to want it.
The night shift exists because employees asked for it, not because a client demanded it. That distinction is the whole of our people policy.
